Becoming a sorority woman during my junior year in college was something that I might've never ever pictured for myself.

Becoming a sorority lady during my junior year in college was something that I could've never envisioned for myself. I participated in August 2024; going through the casual procedure in order to get my precious quote. Last month, I got to experience formal recruitment for the really very first time. I believed I would talk about today the differences between the 2 recruitments and my suggestions on sorority life.

What is Formal Recruitment?

Formal recruitment is a procedure that includes multiple days of rounds to get "matched" with the perfect home. Each round may become harder due to being visited particular sororities. When you think about official recruitment, believe of Bama Rush. The OOTDs, the hundreds of shouting girls opening the yellow envelopes, and the extravagant sorority home filled with charm on the within and out.

Although Virginia Tech's sorority recruitment is not as intensive as Bama Rush, it does follow a lot of the same procedures. There are 4 rounds within rush: Open House, Philanthropy, Sisterhood and Preference. After each round, your home alternatives become narrower, resulting in the final day: Bid Day. Bid Day is where you receive an invite to the sorority you are matched with.

Being an employer, this experience was quite cool to see. I enjoyed seeing all the PNMs personalizations of their outfits and seeing if they would fit well within my sorority. The procedure likewise helped me acquire better friendships within my own sorority, employment as we needed to interact to ensure rush went as efficiently as possible.

What is Informal Recruitment?

Informal recruitment is a process that's much calmer than official recruitment. Usually, it is a COB process (constant open bidding), implying the sorority will slowly approve PNMs with bids throughout the timespan of the recruitment.

The process usually includes a small sorority occasion where you satisfy some of the sisters and then you may satisfy a sis one-on-one.

The cool thing about informal recruitment is that you can choose your home you want and not be forced to see the other houses. But the only thing that may happen is the particular sorority you desire may not offer informal. This depends upon the sorority's numbers. If they have enough numbers and/or simply do not desire to do casual recruitment, you might not be able to rush that particular sorority. Also, some sororities do invite-only informal recruitment. It is essential to keep in mind that casual is a fantastic alternative, but it might not be provided all of the time.

Which recruitment is much better for me?

Well, it depends. If you want the possibility to see all of your houses on your university school, it is best to do formal. Formal provides you the opportunity to see all of your houses and discover more about the sisters and the history of the sororities.

If you are already set on what home you desire, casual recruitment might be the very best choice. But again, you need to be careful that some sororities may not offer this alternative.

How do I know if I want to be in a sorority?

GIVE IT A TRY! See if you like it. I didn't understand if I would like to be in a sorority and I was so scared to try it. But when I found my sorority, employment I felt that I found my home away from home. I felt convenience from the ladies I was surrounded by, and I feel so much love each time I stroll in your house doors.
